Front Garden Bed Makeover in Woodlake Estates

Here's what we were working with - overgrown weeds, scraggly yucca plants with dead fronds dragging on the ground, and bare dirt where there should have been something worth looking at. The beds had concrete edging already in place, which was a good bones situation, but everything inside them needed to go.

We pulled out the unwanted plants, cleaned up the weeds, and got the beds down to bare soil before we did anything else. That part matters a lot. Skipping the cleanup and just planting over a mess is how you end up with the same problem six months later. We wanted a fresh start here.

Once the beds were cleared, we brought in tropical plants - dark-leafed cannas with red blooms, ornamental grasses for texture, purple heart plants along the edges, and a pink hibiscus tucked near the walkway. The goal was color that holds up and plants that don't need constant babying. We finished everything off with fresh cypress mulch throughout every bed and cleaned up all the edges.

What you end up with is a front yard that actually looks intentional. The beds now complement the brick instead of competing with it. The plant mix gives you layers - low groundcover, mid-height grasses, and taller cannas - so there's always something going on visually. That's the kind of design thinking we put into every outdoor build we do, whether it's a small bed refresh or a full front yard overhaul.
