A lot of front yards in this area share the same problem - the foundation beds are either overgrown, completely bare, or just kind of forgotten about. No real structure, no color, nothing that makes you actually want to pull into the driveway. That's exactly what we were working with here.

We started by building out stone paver block retaining walls to give the beds a defined shape and raise the planting area. That wall does more than look good - it keeps the soil in place, helps with drainage, and creates a clean separation between the lawn and the garden. You end up with beds that actually hold their shape long-term instead of slowly washing out every time it rains.

Once the structure was in place, we filled everything in with a mix of plants that work well in this climate. Agapanthus, Azaleas, and two varieties of purple flowering plants give the beds real color and texture. These aren't random picks - they're plants that come back strong and don't need constant babying to look good. Fresh mulch ties it all together and keeps moisture where it needs to be.

The difference from start to finish is pretty dramatic. What was a bland, forgettable front yard became something that actually complements the house. The stone walls frame the whole thing perfectly against the brick foundation, and the layering of plants gives it depth. Small details like the white crushed rock border along the wall add a finishing touch that elevates the whole look.

Getting curb appeal right isn't just about planting flowers. It's about structure, plant selection, and making sure everything works together. That's what we focus on every time we take on a front garden like this one.
